Are you an aspiring young leader between 15 and 24 years? The YLEAD Virtual Fellowship Program is for you. This is an immersive capacity building program designed to educate, engage, and equip young people with skills to prepare them for the world of work and transition from school to career. This four-week leadership, entrepreneurship, and personal development program is designed for students and secondary school graduates as well as out-of-school youth in Nigeria.
The Youth Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Development (YLEAD) Fellowship is a flagship program of iKapture Centre for Development which has impacted young people in the South-South region of Nigeria over the last 10 years. To mark its 10th Anniversary, the fellowship is extending to the 36 states + FCT with the goal of reaching more young people. The Virtual program provides a platform for young people to learn from experienced thought leaders, share knowledge with changemakers, and also create meaningful networks and changes in their lives and in their communities.
Program Content
The program includes 1 week of training, 2 weeks’ internship, and 1-week mentoring engagement. It offers well-developed modules and content on areas such as Self Awareness, Purpose Discovery, Emotional Intelligence, Goal Setting, Time Management, Etiquette, Ethics, and Values amongst others.
The project activities include:
- Intensive training on basic leadership, personal and entrepreneurship skills
- Counseling
- Internship
- Volunteering
- Business Simulation
- Mentoring
The breakdown of activities includes;
- Week 1: The participants will receive scheduled virtual lectures from our well-structured modules on different topics covering Leadership, Personal Development, and Entrepreneurship. Icebreakers, games, puzzles, illustrations, and PowerPoint slides will be employed to engage and educate the students.
- Week 2 and 3 – Remote Internship and Business Simulation Exercise
- Week 4: Selected Mentors (external and internal) from different fields are matched with students to help guide them.
- 10th Anniversary Celebration Event and Awards
Eligibility
The YLEAD program is open to individuals within the secondary, post-secondary, and pre-university status.
Interested candidates;
- Must be between the ages of 15-24 years
- Should fill and submit the application form to be selected
- Should not be an undergraduate at the time of application.
- Must show interest in learning new skills and participate in group activities.
- Must attain at least 75% attendance in the training program.
- Must be of good behavior and willing to interact with people of different backgrounds, tribe, and religion.
- Should have an interest in volunteering and being paired with a mentor.
Application, Program Fees, and Package
Participants are required to fill an application form for this program. Applications will be assessed to ascertain the readiness of the student to embark on such an intensive program.
Selected candidates will be required to pay a commitment fee of N10,000 only to be able to participate in this life-changing program. However, a 50% scholarship is available for a few participants.
