The program which marked as the launch of iKapture Networks kicked off at 9:00am on April 9, 2014 at De Choice Fast-food Event Hall, Calabar, Nigeria. It started with the arrival and registration of participants and facilitators. At 10:05am, the Anchor, Miss Juliet, took over the floor and invited a participant to lead the opening prayer. The National anthem was sung by everyone to bring the spirit of patriotism among the participants.
The session started immediately after an energizer which was conducted by the anchor and an introductory message by Miss Frank Edima; a staff of iKapture Networks, and was taken by Mr. Jonah Benson on the topic; Career and Leadership tips, where he addressed on the issues on careers and leadership with regards to our targeted audience (aged 16 – 24). In his session, he spoke on how important leading ourselves is before leading others and linked it with how everyone are meant to lead themselves to discovering who they really wanted to be thence finding the right career for themselves. The session took 30 minutes and ended at 10:50am and the impression on the look of the students joined with their feedback reports showed that it was an interesting and educating session.
At 10:55am, the first session of the competition was set up and it was on reading. It featured 5 students who were randomly selected amidst the audience to show their reading prowess. It was an interesting competition which produced the best 3 winners.
After the reading competition, the event which was to engage students preparing for JAMB examination and pre college experience took to a greater height as Pastor Akomaye Ogar a renowned writer and speaker in the metropolises took to the stage as he gave a talk on “Capturing the Future.” He enlightened the participants on why the future is important and how they could be active participants in it.
After the session, at 11: 30am, the event saw yet another session on the topic ikapture Networks as Miss Vivian educated the audience on ikapture Networks and her profile including her packages. As she concluded, Miss Frank introduced the Writing Competition which tested 5 students that were selected amongst the participants on the topic of the session prior. At the end of another intense 5 minutes, the competition had a winner and a runner up.
To further fulfill the promise of informing and exposing our participants on how to capture a bright future, Mrs. Ann Mesembe; the coordinator of American Corner Calabar spoke on the topic “Career Excellence” which ended at 12:10pm.
Just after the session on JAMB Examination Tips which was handled by Mr. Steven Ogar, the third and final session of the competition was introduced by Miss Frank and was later anchored by Mr. Benson who showed an enormous interest in the exercise. It was to test contestants on how properly they could spell. 10 contestants were selected randomly and after what can be termed a remarkable competition, a finalist list which consisted the three best contestants was created and in the end, a winner emerged.
It was indeed an emotional moment as the winners were awarded. The guest speakers and observers including the Executive Director; Miss Grace Ihejiamaizu were invited to the podium to present the winners of all competition their deserved prizes and urged the participants to embrace a reading culture as they wished them (participants) a well written JAMB examination scheduled in ten days’ time from the date.

At 1:05pm, the event was coming to an end and among other enticing sections of the event were the quiz completion, the recharged card games, the networking energizers and a poem presentation by one of the participants.
The Closing Remark by the Executive Director of iKapture Networks; Miss Grace Ihejiamaizu marked the closure of the event as she thanked everyone for participating in the event and urged the participants to dream bigger, aim higher and prepare themselves better as they capture their future.
The closing prayer was said at 1:40pm courtesy of a volunteer and refreshments were administered with the help of the volunteers and iKapture Network staffs. Before the departure of the participants, a series of group shots (pictures) were taken and the smiles on the faces of everyone confirmed that the event was a success.
